Bio
Ser o Dúo started their work in 2017 in Valparaíso, Chile. They have performed their music in Chile, Argentina, Colombia, India, Nepal, Spain, Italy, Germany, Ireland and the Netherlands. With Tomás Carrasco on wind instruments and Moa Edmunds on acoustic guitar and electronics, the duo aims to use the possibilities given by a wide range of world flutes (silver flute, quenas, bulgarian kaval, indian bansuri, turkish ney, ocarinas, among others) and a hybrid approach to the acoustic guitar (western classical and south-american with effects) for creating music openly and inclusively, weakening stylistic and cultural borders, where the strict structure of western classical music lives together with improvisation, modern approaches and concepts taken from a wide range of musical traditions.
In 2019 they publish a sheet music book with 8 of their own compositions called “Punto medio” along with “Cadenza” publishing house. That same year they record and publish their first album “Testimonio”, which is available in all digital platforms. In 2022 they publish their second album «Baithak», premiering it in a European Tour in 5 countries.
Since 2019 they have been traveling and filming their documentary called “Nomadic sounds”, records of human and musical encounters that reflect the power of music for connecting people, beyond cultural and geographical distances. They have been in India and Nepal where they have performed concerts, workshops and musical collaborations in a wide variety of cities and contexts. Cause of pandemic, they stayed in Kathmandu, Nepal, where they are now teaching at the Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory. They are also working as composers/arrangers/ performers with the bands of «Jhuma Limbu» & Raithane (on indigenous music of different ethnicities of Nepal) and «Ser o Jooni» (on contemporary jazz and world music).
